Rendez-vous à Roland-Garros

Official sponsors of the “Rendez-vous à Roland-Garros” event, Longines paid tribute to Japanese player Ayano Shimizu and Brazilian Rafael Wagner, who emerged victorious at the French tennis tournament. The two young athletes triumphed over their adversaries in the final held on the Philippe-Chatrier court on 26 May.

Jean Gachassin, president of the Fédération Française de Tennis, and Juan-Carlos Capelli, vice-president and international marketing director at Longines, granted the two young players a Wild Card allowing them to participate in the junior tournament of the French Open. They were also presented with an elegant Longines watch on the balcony of the presidential stand.

Partner and official timekeeper of the French Open since 2007, for the seventh consecutive year the Swiss brand also brought together the best players under the age of 13 from sixteen countries. At the Longines Future Tennis Aces, the young Spanish prodigy María Dolores López Martinez beat the Russian Kristina Volgapkina in the final. She was presented with a Longines watch, a trophy and an annual grant to fund her sports equipment until her sixteenth birthday.
