Chopard adorns the stars of the Festival de Cannes

Chopard continues its association with the Festival de Cannes, which took place on the sunny French Riviera last May.

Since 1998, stars such as Marion Cotillard, Julia Roberts and Uma Thurman have sported Chopard creations while climbing the legendary red-carpeted stairs. The brand also honours young talents of the silver screen and holds glamorous soirées for its guests.

Every year the festival’s prestigious symbol the Palme d’Or is awarded to the best film in the official selection. Redesigned in 1998 by Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, the trophy is the fruit of the exceptional relationship between the Swiss jeweller and the French film festival. Since 2014, this emblematic jewel has been crafted from certified "Fairmined" gold, demonstrating an approach that favours the rise of sustainable, responsible jewellery.

This 69th  Festival de Cannes also marks the sixteenth edition of the Chopard Trophy awarded to promising young actors from world cinema. In the magnificent setting of the Chopard Rooftop, British actors Bel Powley and John Boyega were presented with the award by Juliette Binoche, the ceremony’s patron who won the Best Actress Award in 2010.

Emphasizing further the festival’s 60th anniversary, celebrated in 2007, actresses on the red carpet sported jewellery from the Red Carpet collection. Enriched with a new piece each year, the collection comprises 69 creations, including several Green Carpet high jewellery pieces. These creations are made from certified "Fairmined" gold and adorned with diamonds from mines that respect environmental standards. For the first time, coloured gemstones completed this ethical collection.
