TAG Heuer partners with the Patrouille des Glaciers

TAG Heuer announced a new partnership at the beginning of December. The La Chaux-de-Fonds watchmaker has become the official timekeeper and watch of the famous international Alpine skiing event organised by the Swiss Army, the Patrouille des Glaciers, which is also open to civilian teams.

The next edition will take place from 19 to 22 April this year between Zermatt and Verbier (Valais). Around 5,000 skiers generally take part in the competition.

The announcement was made in the presence of Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer, Colonel Max Contesse, commander of the Patrouille des Glaciers, Fabrice Favero, president of the Patrouille des Glaciers Promotion and Support Association, mountaineering friends of the brand including Florent Troillet, winner of the event in 2010, Séverine Pont Combe, one of the big favourites to win the race in 2016, a record holder with four victories to her name who will be skiing this year in TAG Heuer colours (in the Patrouille but also throughout the season), and Géraldine Fasnacht, the famous bird woman and wingsuit pilot, freeride champion and several times winner of the Verbier Xtreme, as well as more than 120 guests, including members of the military, partners and clients, who together shared a convivial fondue in the giant igloo assembled outside the firm’s headquarters specially for the occasion.

At this event the brand revealed the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Edition Spéciale Patrouille de Glaciers, just 200 of which will be available from March 2016. TAG Heuer announced that it had entered two teams for 2016: for the first time a Chinese contingent will be present, arriving specially from Shanghai. They will train under the supervision of Florent Troillet in Verbier. The second team will be a Wild Card offered by TAG Heuer to participants whose application will undergo additional scrutiny in conjunction with the organisation committee.
