In its capacity as exclusive partner of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, Jaquet Droz attended the performance of «The Ninth Symphony» in Lausanne last June.
This work was without doubt the major event in the world of dance this summer. Fifty years after its creation at the Cirque Royal in Brussels by Maurice Béjart, a legendary figure of 20th century dance, the production was performed on the stage of the Malley ice-rink in Lausanne. It was also presented at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco in July.
Gil Roman, director of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, was naturally delighted to stage this exceptional production, which features on stage more than 250 artistes, dancers, chorus singers and musicians. Three years of work were needed to revive a phenomenal show that was staged for the first time in Tokyo in November 2014.
This dance concept reflects the philosophy of Jaquet Droz. The magic of movement, studied gestures and steps culminating in an exquisite expression of beauty, create a world of analogies and correspondences that has been forged over the years between the Swiss dance company and the brand with the two-star logo.
