Girard-Perregaux pays tribute to Pedro Almódovar

As a partner of the Lumière Festival in Lyon for the second year in a row, Girard-Perregaux paid tribute to the filmmaker Pedro Almódovar, the 2014 prize winner.

On the occasion of this event, which was held at the very place where cinematography was invented by Louis and Auguste Lumière, and the first film made, Sortie d’Usine (The Factory Gate), in 1895, the Lumière Prize, awarded by the Institute of the same name since 2009, pays tribute to a wide-ranging achievement in the film world.

After Clint Eastwood, Milos Forman, Gérard Depardieu, Ken Loach and Quentin Tarantino, it is Pedro Almódovar’s turn to receive the prestigious distinction for the impact of his work reflecting the generosity and rule-breaking vitality of his films. Winner of several Oscars and many awards at the Cannes Film Festival, he has made nineteen feature films since the eighties.

Pedro Almódovar was presented with a Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 watch. A particular homage given the importance of the notion of time in his films as a factor shaping the characters, their desires and their particular features.
