Deep sea mission by Fabien Cousteau

Doxa was chosen to provide the official timepieces for Mission 31 by Fabien Cousteau, who in June, in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, completed a dive in the Aquarius, the only underwater marine habitat and laboratory in the world. The 31-day deep sea mission set a new submersion record for human ocean exploration. Doxa also established a record for the longest continuous submersion of a diver’s watch. The mission began on 1st June and came to an end on 2nd July this year.

Doxa commemorated the mission by designing and producing a special limited edition of 331 pieces of the iconic Doxa Sub diver’s watch, 31 of which spent 31 days under water with Fabien Cousteau’s team. The Doxa Sub Mission 31 is a modern titanium version of the famous Doxa watch worn by Jean-Michel Cousteau and his father. It comes with a new ultra-light high-tech case and bracelet with a strength equivalent to that of steel. This Swiss made automatic timepiece was developed specifically for divers and features a commemorative Mission 31 dial.

Fabien Cousteau and his team broke the record held by Jacques-Yves Cousteau, his grandfather, who spent thirty days at the bottom of the Red Sea fifty years ago.
