Officine Panerai participates in Manifesta 11 in Zurich

This summer Officine Panerai is participating in Manifesta 11, the 2016 edition of the European contemporary arts biennial which takes place this year in Zurich from 9 June to 18 September. Manifesta asked thirty international artists to explore and interpret the theme, «What People Do for Money - Some Joint Ventures».

As part of the event, the brand collaborated with one of the biennial’s artists, American painter and sculptor Jon Kessler, who drew on his creativity to provide his interpretation of the watchmaking profession through a work entitled, «The World is Cuckoo (Clock)». Exclusively for the project, the Neuchâtel-based manufacture developed a special version of the P2005/T movement, one of the most complicated calibres ever created. It was integrated into the clock devised by Kessler. Rather than telling the time, the clock tells a story: the tale of a cuckoo who can no longer fly. The work «The World is Cuckoo (Clock)» will be exhibited throughout the Manifesta 11 exhibition at Les Ambassadeurs, Bahnhofstrasse, in Zurich.

The Manifesta was established in the early 1990s as a travelling biennial festival of European contemporary art. It is one of the most prominent artistic events in Europe.
