Venice International Film Festival

A longstanding partner of the Venice International Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre participated actively in all the highlights of this event, which took place from 27 August to 6 September this year.

During the festival the brand renewed its support for Emergency, a humanitarian association which provides help to civilian victims of war and poverty. On 28 August, stars of the silver screen appeared on the red carpet and raised their majestic red cups, fashioned by the master glassmakers of the New Murano Gallery to celebrate the 20th anniversary of that institution. Jaeger-LeCoultre first became associated with Emergency in 2011. After supporting hospitals in Sudan and Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan, the brand decided to finance the activities of the Goderech Surgical and Paediatric Centre, in Sierra Leone.

The Venice International Film Festival is also the occasion for Jaeger-LeCoultre to pay tribute to the creative ingenuity of filmmakers by presenting the Glory to the Filmmaker award. This year, the distinction was bestowed on the multi-talented American filmmaker James Franco.

The brand’s traditional gala dinner was held on 2 September at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. Many friends attended this magnificent celebration of the arts. Their number included British actor Clive Owen, Italian actress Cristiana Capotondi, as well as Milla Jovovich, Scott Haze, Helena Bordon, Miguel Munoz, Zoudé Dennenesch, Ekaterina Mtsituridze, and many more. Daniel Riedo, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, welcomed the guests and announced the manufacture’s sponsorship of the project to renovate the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, a building constructed in the 16th century which houses works by the painter Jacopo Tintoretto. During the course of the evening, guests were able to discover the new Hybris Artistica collection, consisting of twelve exclusive watches symbolising the manufacture’s philosophy of excellence in horology.
