Homage to Rudolf Caracciola

IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the start of the Rallye Passione Caracciola last June. In the company of race participants and numerous guests of honour, the watchmaker paid homage to the legendary German driver Rudolf Caracciola.

The competition consists of a regularity trial, held this year for the second time. The event is open to collectors’ vehicles of all makes built before 1980.

With stopovers in Bern, Interlaken, Andermatt and Ambri, the course stretched from Regensdorf to Lugano. Highlights of the race also included a visit to the Bremgarten circuit, home of the Swiss Grand Prix in the 1930s, as well as a «Track Day» with Mercedes-AMG racing cars on the Ambrì-Piotta aerodrome site.

To draw attention to this sporting event, IWC Schaffhausen unveiled two special editions. The Ingenieur Chronographe Edition «Rudolf Caracciola» pays homage to the exceptional 1930s driver, while the Ingenieur Chronographe Edition «W 125» evokes the legendary Mercedes-Benz silver arrow. Both models are available in limited editions of 750 pieces and feature the new proprietary 69370 calibre.
