PX Group and Swiss made watch exteriors

It is also active in various other sectors such as the jewellery, eyewear, dentistry, medical, aeronautics, automotive and equipment industries. Taking innovation as its credo, it is one of the prime movers in the field of training and research, where it instigates major projects. These include the chair of metallurgy at the Institut Microtechnique de Neuchâtel, created in conjunction with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL).

Established in 1976 at the height of the watchmaking crisis, PX Precinox SA embodies the ideas of its founder, Pierre-Olivier Chave. The young metallurgy engineer, who chose La Chaux de Fonds as his adopted home, sought to develop the use of stainless steel in external parts for watches. To do this, he needed to considerably increase the quality of the alloy, preserving its corrosion resistance without reducing its malleability. Some time later he developed an alloy that the sector now automatically associates with the PX brand. This marked the beginning of a fascinating journey during which precious metals, and gold in particular, played a key role in the young company’s expansion. Combining traditional metallurgy with an unwavering determination to innovate is one of the company’s core values.

United under the PX umbrella, six firms contribute to a panoply of high-calibre skills. Now present in Malaysia with a production unit for standard profiles, the PX Group provides solutions for a very broad range of applications. In its role as the leading manufacturer of semi-finished parts for specific uses, it has succeeded in developing and offering a process which for the customer entails a spectacular reduction in machining and production costs.

The six entities are PX Precinox SA, PX Precimet SA, PX Tools SA, PX Services SA, PX Dental SA and Swiss Profile, which now em-ploy more than 500 staff. A magnificent pool of talent with more than enough motivation to ensure the group’s steady long-term development.
