78th edition of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud regatta

From 11 to 12 June, Hublot navigated the waters of Lake Geneva as official timekeeper of the 78th Bol d’Or Mirabaud regatta.

Setting off from Port Noir in Geneva, some 520 participating vessels defied the winds along a 66.5 nautical mile route (approximately 122 km). A highlight on the calendar for professional and amateur sailors, this sporting event also involved five volunteers and twenty boats from the Geneva Nautical Society. The 428 sailing boats that crossed the finish line included the catamaran Ladycat powered by Spindrift racing, with Xavier Revil at the helm, which outdistanced its competitors to take first place ahead of Alinghi, skippered by Ernesto Bertarelli, and Mobimo, captained by Christian Wahl.

In honour of this 78th edition, Hublot unveiled a limited edition timepiece of 78 pieces. Drawing inspiration from maritime design codes, the Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronographe Bol d’Or Mirabaud 2016 will appeal to sailing enthusiasts with its carbon fibre skeleton and bezel. This lightweight, shock-resistant high-tech material is particularly valued by sportsmen.
