Rado under the sign of lightness

Lightness is the watchword of the latest collection from Rado, both in an aesthetic and technical sense.

A renowned style consultant and editor, Lidewij Edelkoort became famous for predicting trends in a world struggling to keep pace with revolutionary change. In Designing Lightness, she couples the latest Rado collection with objets d’art made of light fabrics, delicate porcelain, and draped, quilted or undulating materials. This exhibition underlines her observation that contemporary design is in search of lightness: «Today, design is carried and worn, featherweight fabrics adorn our bodies, and slender, sober watches reach out to infinity. The material is the message. Full consciousness is movement.»

Lidewij Edelkoort is one of the world’s top trend forecasters. With Trend Union, her company based in Paris, which has subsidiaries in New York and Tokyo, she creates trend books used by the strategists and designers of international brands. She was recently named dean of hybrid design studies at the New School of New York and Parsons Paris.
