Connected to the future and eternity

On 9 November this year, the brand unveiled its latest new model, the "TAG Heuer Connected". This smart watch benefits from Intel technology and the world of Android Wear.

The event took place in the symbolic LVMH Tower in New York. Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer, and Bernard Arnault, CEO of the LVMH group, were accompanied by Brian Krzanich, CEO of Intel Corporation, and David Singleton, VP Engineering Android at Google.

With a diameter of 46 mm, the TAG Heuer Connected has the look of a classic timepiece. The case, back cover and horns are made of grade 2 titanium, a modern material which is light and strong. Its operation is simple. The dial and hands remain visible, while interactive counters at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock display various apps.

Proposed at the launch: the chronograph dial, the three-hands dial and the GMT dial, all showing the date and available in three colours (black, navy blue or pearlescent white), and all recreating the appearance and functions of a real dial, with shadows cast by hands and a delightful effect of natural sunlight. And because the TAG Heuer Connected is first and foremost a watch, its hands and indexes remain visible to tell the time even when the watch is in standby mode. More dials will be proposed shortly and perhaps - why not - personalised by the brand’s ambassadors.

This uncommon timepiece is rounded off by a black structured rubber strap available in six colours (red, blue, white, orange, green and yellow) with a folding clasp also in grade 2 titanium. It has the elegance, characteristics and quality of finish of a prestige watch and is available priced at 1,400 francs.

TAG Heuer has worked closely with Intel and Google to create a timepiece which combines smart functions with Swiss watchmaking know-how. The watch is powered by the Intel Atom series Z34XX processor and uses the Android Wear operating system. Intel designed the watch’s intelligence under supervision from TAG Heuer to give it its performance and an abundance of online options, including audio streaming, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, while at the same time allowing users to benefit from a wide range of functions offered by the Android Wear operating system.

Boasting a 4 GB memory and a latest-generation lithium battery with a 1-day battery life, the TAG Heuer Connected comes with a small microphone allowing the user to communicate via Google Voice control, as well as a sapphire crystal touch screen, an indispensable addition to the control crown situated at 3 o’clock. The IP67 timepiece is water-resistant for everyday use. The watch can easily be synchronized with a phone operating under Android 4.3+ or iOS 8.2+.

Another important feature: on expiry of the two year warranty of the smartwatch, owners can exchange their TAG Heuer Connected for a Swiss-made mechanical Carrera watch at any of the brand’s boutiques. With an identical design and also made of grade 2 titanium, this timepiece has been developed exclusively for owners of the TAG Heuer Connected. A further payment of 1,400 francs will however be required.
