Swiza reinterprets the Swiss knife

On 21 October this year, Swiza presented its reinterpretation of the legendary Swiss knife. Active for 111 years in the watchmaking sector, the Jura brand thus continues to diversify its product range.

Manufactured and assembled in the Jura canton, this new arrival in the firm’s inventory owes its impressive credentials to local industry. Offering well in excess of the minimum rate of Swiss value of 60%, it subtly combines age-old tradition, modernity and contemporary good looks. Conceived by the estragon industrial design group in Zurich, this pocket knife was designed and produced by specialists in the branch and required a total of eighteen months’ development. Benefiting from a know-how which guarantees the quality standards of Swiss industry, it succeeds beautifully in bridging the gap between contemporary design and technical innovation.

Its curves, materials and colours immediately catch the eye with their light touch, while the ergonomic shape of the handle allows the knife to be held intuitively, helped by a very strong, non-slip, textured finish. Its curved shape allows direct access to tools, which are perforated to facilitate opening. Ingeniously integrated in the handle, the Swiss cross becomes much more than a sign of identity: it guarantees enhanced safety thanks to a blade locking system not seen before on this size of knife. Available in 16 models, the knife is an ideal everyday companion. Under the direction of Peter Hug and Florian Lachat, the Jura firm thus opens a new chapter in its history.

Established in 1904, Swiza has hitherto focused on the development and manufacture of watch movements, alarm clocks and miniature clocks. In 2015, the brand developed its activities by launching a full collection of wristwatches and articles of baggage. With knives, it adds to the diversity of a range of activities resolutely focused on the future.
