Eberhard & Co sponsor of the Raid dell’Etna

The Raid dell’Etna, a vintage car rally which passes through some of Sicily’s most outstanding countryside, took place from 26 September to 3 October. This 18th edition welcomed 80 teams from six different nations, each of whom covered around 1,000 kilometres. Legendary vintage cars predating 1969 were however the principal participants. A special tribute was reserved for Porsche models both historic and modern.

Eberhard & Co, for more than twenty years one of the foremost sponsors of period cars, was the official timekeeper for the 50 trials comprising the Raid dell’Etna and presented the winners with the most coveted trophies, namely the «Trofeo Eberhard & Co» and the «Coppa delle Dame Eberhard & Co». Two Tazio Nuvolari chronographs were presented to Mario Crugnola and Edvige De Vitto, the highest placed team in the regularity section, while two Gilda watches were awarded to the winners of the night-time competition, which took place in the historic centre of Catania.

The Raid dell’Etna owes its uniqueness to a magical formula which combines the thrill of competition with the opportunity for participants to drive their own vintage car through magnificent Sicilian landscapes, and also to visit private estates and hotels that are ordinarily closed to the public. A perfect blend of conviviality, competitiveness and culture that creates an unforgettable experience for those involved.
