Montblanc Culture Award - Art Patronage

Among the many prizes celebrating achievements in the world of art and culture, the Montblanc Culture Award - Art Patronage stands out by honouring those patrons of the arts who, removed from the spotlight, promote the development of art and culture through their unwavering support.

Created in 1992 by the Montblanc Culture Foundation, this annual award highlights the work and commitment of patrons of the contemporary arts from countries all over the world. Each year, an international jury of artists and influential personalities from the world of the arts selects outstanding patrons.

Candidates must demonstrate a personal commitment to the arts and a particular attachment to the promotion of cultural projects benefiting the general public. Previous winners of the award include HRH The Prince of Wales, the founder of Art Basel Miami Craig Robin, the American musician Quincy Jones, the Italian architect Renzo Piano and Japanese artist Yoko Ono.

The winner from each country receives a limited-edition Montblanc writing instrument specially made by hand each year in the artisanal workshops of Montblanc, and is awarded €15,000 on behalf of his or her artistic foundation.

In June 2015, the Montblanc Culture Award - Art Patronage will be presented for the first time in Switzerland, in Zurich.
