Behind the Camera Awards

The eighth edition of the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards was held on 9 November in Los Angeles. This award ceremony pays homage to the brilliant talents who never appear on screen but whose work contributes to a film’s quality and its lasting impact on viewers.

The master of ceremonies was Matthew Morrison, the actor nominated at the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards. To present these illustrious awards he had at his side an exceptional team consisting of leading actors and award-winning filmmakers. Laureates were selected from films released during the year and/or shown or qualifying at the Cannes, Toronto and Venice film festivals, and at the festival of the American Film Institute.

Those singled out for distinction this year were:

  • Best director: Benett Miller for «Foxcatcher»,
  • Producers: John Deluca, Rob Marshall and Marc Platt for «Into The Woods»,
  • Editor: Sandra Adair for «Boyhood»,
  • New producers: Nora Grossman, Ido Ostrowsky and Teddy Schwarzman for «The Imitation Game»,
  • Special effects: Dan Lemmon for «Dawn of the Planet of the Apes»,
  • Scriptwriter: J.C. Chandor for «A Most Violent Year»,
  • Director of photography: Robert Yeoman for «The Grand Budapest Hotel»,
  • Props person: Ellen Freund for «Mad Men»,
  • Production designer: Donald Graham Burt for «Gone Girl»,
  • Special Prize for his exceptional music: Alexandre Desplat for «The Imitation Game», «The Grand Budapest Hotel», «Unbroken», «Godzilla» and «The Monuments Men».
