First edition of the Chantilly Arts & Elegance

On 7 September 2014, around 10,000 people visited the gardens of the Château de Chantilly, designed under Louis XIV by his gardener André Le Nôtre, to celebrate the first edition of Chantilly Arts & Elégance Richard Mille.

In the course of the day three competitions were organised: the first was associated with a fashion show featuring eleven models dressed by eleven haute couture designers alongside an equal number of concept cars. Into the bargain, three world premieres: the Aston Martin Zagato Shooting Brake 2014, the DS Divine and the Peugeot Exalt (French version). Meanwhile the 1,000HP McLaren P1 GTR, reserved solely for the racing circuit, made an exclusive European appearance. The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante, designed by Touring and based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, won the Richard Mille «Concours d’Elégance» award.

The «Concours d’Etat» saw a hundred more cars judged on the criteria of conservation, restoration and historical interest. The Delahaye 135M cabriolet from 1937 won the «Best of Show» award. The Club Competition for its part featured nearly 500 cars. The largest number of votes, together with the Goyard Award, went to the Delahaye club.

Activities, visits to apartments and gardens, hot-air balloon flights and boat trips were combined with workshops, introductions to various French gastronomic delights and an exceptional selection of leather goods. The exhibition «Fra Angelico, Botticelli… Rediscovered Masterpieces» and riveted aluminium sculptures by Emmanuel Chapalain were the star attraction for art lovers. Lastly, the grounds of the Château provided a beautiful setting for the unique Bugatti Royale Coupé Napoléon 1930. The date is already set for the second edition, on the first Sunday of September 2015.
