To meet constantly growing demand, Frédérique Constant moved recently to its own building in Plan-les-Ouates.

On 22 June this year, in the presence of around 250 hand-picked guests, Frédérique Constant officially opened its Plan-les-Ouates manufactory. On this occasion, the traditional ribbon was cut by the Councillor of State for Geneva Pierre-François Unger and the firm’s owners, Peter and Aletta Stas. With this new building, Frédérique Constant firmly establishes itself among the leaders, not least in the geographical sense of the term: the Piaget and Vacheron Constantin manufactories are but a stone’s throw away!

The new Frédérique Constant manufacture measures 3,200 square meters, divided over four floors, offering an attractive working environment for around 70 employees in the sectors of movement component production, calibre assembly, watch assembly, and extensive quality control. Numerically-controlled machines of the latest generation are located in a large atelier in the basement, where all component manufacturing is concentrated. Calibre and watch assembly, as well as state-of-the-art quality control is primarily organized on the first floor. The building is also the brand's international headquarters.

The anthracite building façade was chosen to create a contemporary landmark, reflecting Frédérique Constant as a dynamic watch manufacturer. The rectangular design of the building is straightforward and functional. Lastly, the large windows on the front side of the building reflect on the culture of Frédérique Constant. These windows create a transparency for outsiders to look into the manufacture – while at the same time offering Frédérique Constant personnel a clear view to the world outside.

The new Frédérique Constant building is of high quality with regard to architectural layout, choice of materials, high technology and security systems. Following latest cutting-edge production concepts, the workshops are very spacious, with glass partitions to create a bright environment, to enhance performance, communication and cooperation between watchmakers and quality control personnel in the various ateliers. The air conditioning, acoustic and thermal insulation, sanitary equipment as well as energy management are in accordance with the most stringent Geneva quality standards.

The London-based, world-renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen designed the reception of the new building. Symmetry, judicious lighting, dark wood, leather, tactile fabrics and - above all - taupe in various shades, are the marks of the Kelly Hoppen signature. Talented and celebrated Kelly Hoppen accomplished superior design elements for the Frédérique Constant building. For example, the simple, modern lines underlying the sofas, armchairs and lighting, give the reception a multitasking edge, as well as a wide luxurious appeal.

During the past 10 years, Frédérique Constant has grown consistently with 25-30% per year. In 2006, the company aims to produce and sell over 55’000 pieces. With its slogan "Live your passion", Frédérique Constant will continue with the passionate development and production of exciting new collections. Current plans, including the recent acquisition of the Alpina watch brand, give the company strong confidence that sustained growth will continue in the future.

To commemorate the official inauguration, Frédérique Constant is presenting a new limited edition of its classic Heart Beat Manufacture wristwatch. The Heart Beat Manufacture "Plan-les-Ouates" is crafted in 18K white gold and is equipped with the original FC-910 Frédérique Constant manufacture calibre first unveiled in 2004. The dial of the watch, with classic Roman numerals, is of the same anthracite colour as the new building. The Heart Beat Manufacture "Plan-les-Ouates" exudes lots of character and classy understatement. This commemorative edition is strictly limited to 188 pieces.
